Energy Frontiers, Earthquake Response

[about]
On April 10, 2025, our team went to an emergency shelter in the aftermath of an earthquake to deliver emergency power. We responded 12 days after the natural disaster to a local high school turned shelter to deploy a portable solar generator as a first response.

Sagaing Installation 1

our solution

The solar generator is brought to address the immediate needs of the residents during our assessment.

We returned two days later with a mobile microgrid to address the families' longer-term needs and decommissioned
the solar generator.

outcome

The microgrid is able to support lighting, device charging, and powering administrative appliances for the 220 people staying at the shelter. The system can power filtration systems and aids in consistent access to clean water.

Shortly after the installation, a solar water filtration system was donated to the shelter. It is used together with our system, freeing up the energy load on the microgrid.
