How does the microgrid work?

Our turnkey microgrid is designed to be quickly & efficiently implemented in the field without any unnecessary features. There are several integral parts to our model: here are the four main components.

  • Our system utilizes solar PV (photovoltaic) energy to power the system and appliances. With both ground mount and roof mount options available, the solar array can be installed where needed to maximize power delivery. The number of panels can be customized to fit the use case and optimize cost.

  • Max power: 5000W

    Max PV voltage: 500 VDC

    MPPT range: 120-450 VDC

  • We rely on smart inverter technology in order to reduce size and weight, while optimizing performance. Our hybrid inverters rely on MPPT technology, Pure Sine Wave output, and high efficiency energy conversion. The inverters can be stacked to provide higher power output.

  • Operating voltage: 48 VDC

    Max output: 5 kW

  • Our system utilizes LiFePo batteries to minimize weight and size while optimizing energy storage capabilities. These batteries have high storage capabilities, long life cycles, and longer maintenance intervals, which makes them the perfect choice for off-grid and remote applications. Our batteries can be stacked to provide higher storage capacity for your energy needs.

  • Nominal voltage: 51.2V

  • Our monitoring system is built upon a Raspberry Pi4 architecture and connected to the cloud through a cellular modem. The monitoring system can work in both online mode, where data is instantly published to the cloud, or offline mode, where data is saved to a local storage drive.

An energy solution customized to fit your needs 

Atutu’s solar microgrids can be equipped with IOT monitoring, reporting, and control capabilities and can deliver up to 10kW of power with up to 30kWh of storage.

By utilizing monitoring and reporting technologies, we are able to diagnose and improve our system’s health to extend its lifetime and optimize performance.

Our systems have the ability to:

  • report how much energy has been generated and delivered, enabling us to calculate carbon footprint

  • indicate which components need to be changed to optimize system performance over time

  • serve as a Wi-Fi station for users who need Internet access*

Our implementations

In early 2023, we deployed our first Atutu Community Microgrid at a boarding school in Northern Myanmar to eliminate the school’s reliance on their outdated, expensive diesel generator.
