Digital Skills Training Program

An initiative to support the learning of digital skills of students in Kachin State at the Atutu Learning Center.

The Challenge

High-school students in Myanmar need access to digital resources and high-quality formal teaching because government restrictions on in-person teaching seriously threaten their chances of passing the university entrance exam. With only 18% passing in previous years, this year it may be even lower given present circumstances.

Our Proposal

By creating remote learning environments and setting up computer labs so that the girls can access teaching materials remotely, we’re developing a comprehensive solution to enable our students to continue to self-study and receive formal teaching while reducing reliance on in-person teaching and abiding by social distancing rules.

Your investment will support…

20 - 30 Computers

The computer lab will equip the students with the necessary digital skills to access the internet and its digital resources to further their education and support their lifelong ambitions.

Teacher Stipend

The stipend will support a local teacher in Kachin to help run the lab and deliver the bespoke digital curriculum.

Our Goal

We are setting up a Digital Skills Training Program with 20-30 computers alongside a stipend for a local computer teacher in Kachin to help run the lab. The projected cost of running this initiative is presented in two parts.

  1. The initial startup cost is projected to be approximately K22,845,000 ($16,922.22), covering the cost of entry level computers for the Digital Skills Training Program as well as the low-cost personal computers for deployment.

  2. The ongoing cost of keeping the center running and supporting students is projected to be approximately K4,140,000 ($3,066.67) per year.

📰 Latest Update

Our team at the Atutu Learning Center in Kachin has already started a small pilot project to test out the success of the program. We have started providing computer training to a group of six students using three laptops. Building on the interest of the program from the pilot, we aim to make these lessons accessible to 30+ students.
